Crochet instruction Cute-Mini-Gecko

I've been crocheting for years... but this pattern defeated me.. I could create my own Gecko from the overall shape... but this is not the point of buying a pattern, I quote "crochet into the third ch from the hook 1 sl st, 2 sl st, into next two sl st, 3 sc"
so first chain, 1 sl st... then what? do 2 sl st go into next chain ...?
then s2c into next 2 sl st... but we're working down a foundation chain not "sl st"!
Sorry... this pattern is not clear. I can understand it - I am good at crochet. For someone without experience the English is not good.
