I've designed these socks for Luis, the grandson of my neighbour Heidi. The boy will go to the Waldkindergarten in September. A Waldkindergarten is a nursery in the nature, in the forest. The kids spend much time outdoor and need warm clothes. I hope, these socks will keep Luis' feet warm. Besides the magic toadstool is a symbol for fortune.

What skills are you going to need and what will you get

I knit my socks on DPNs and this pattern is written to work on 4 needles. If you prefer to work on long circular needles you can easily adjust it. Waldkindergarten socks are knitted from the cuff down to the toes. After the cuff you knit the cute colorwork. The colorwork is beginner friendly. Be careful to catch floats. The heel is a short row heel in garter stitch. In the middle of the heel we change the color.
