The lace egde pattern of this beautiful knitted cowl reminded me of falling leaves and so I named it after the elvish word for autumn – ''Lasbelin''.
Because of its special shape, this cowl drapes easily around the neck – no need for additional hat pins, and no points sliding around.
The cowl can be worked in many fiber qualities, it will look nice in laceweight yarn or in DK-yarn and even in aran or worsted weight yarn. The pattern is written for DK weight. In case of using thicker yarn, the yardage has to be adjusted.
Needed materials:
approx. 400 – 420 meters [437 – 459 yds] of yarn with a yardage of 200 meters [218 yds] /100 grams [3.5 oz]
a piece of waste yarn for the provisional cast-on
knitting needle matching the yarn used
kitchen scales
crochet hook for the provisional cast-on
stitch markers
sewing needle
Gauge: 24 sts x 30 rows = 10 cm, [4 in], needle size 3.5 mm [US4] Finished size after blocking approx 80 x 44 cm [31.5 x 17.5 in]
The pattern runs 10 pages, it contains a written pattern, charts and a phototutorial. It was originally written in german and the translation into english was proof-read by a native speaker. Skill level intermediate.
