Dear users, dear authors,
even though Christmas is not all about gifts and presents, they for sure are a big part of it. But remember: The amount of money is not or at least should not be key. It's about love, a present given with love + a hug is always pretty.
Craft a nice present now and put all your love into it.

@authors
please present your patterns with a link, a pic and a text with
information about further required materials, techniques, level of
difficulty and what's special about each pattern.

Give love at Christmas with this perfect accessory - the beautiful crochet shawl Be my Valentine.

Length and width of the shawl are variable, and it can be worked in many yarn weights. It will look especially nice when using a gradient yarn such as Laceball by Schoppel.

The shawl’s most adorable feature are little crocheted hearts at the tips.

Consisting mostly of chains, single crochets and double crochets, this shawl is beginner-friendly or can be worked by advanced crocheters as a relaxing in-between project.

The pattern runs 18 pages and contains a detailed phototutorial, a written pattern and charts. Skill level easy.

Needed materials:
  • approx. 700 – 900 meters [766 – 984 yds] non-plied multi-strand handcrafted yarn such as cotton-acrylic blends (fingering weight or lace-weight yarns may also be used, but please note that the total amount required will differ)
  • Crochet hook matching the yarn used
  • Sewing needle for weaving in ends
Finished size after blocking approx 180 x 60 cm [71 x 24 in]

Knit yourself or for the ones you love a very special Christmas gift with this beautiful shawl "The Shire".
It is a top-down knitted shawl in a crescent shape.

The shawl can be worked in many yarn weights. If worked in thicker yarn it could be a warming winter shawl. For a light and lofty shawl, the chosen yarn should not be thicker than fingering weight.

The size is about 170 x 52 cm approx according to the used yarn, the yardage will be between 600 and 800 meters approx.

You are free to work some troddens at the end of the shawl but as this is only an idea I will not describe how to work this in the pattern.

Needed material:

  • yarn lace-weight to fingering weight (should not be thicker than sport weight), approx. 600 - 800 meters (655 - 874 yards)
  • circular knitting needle 3 - 4 mm (US 3 - 6)
  • stitchmarkers as shown in the pattern
  • sewing needle
The pattern contains no complicated stitches but as its no knitting basic course you should know how to knit the basics (knit, purl, yo, k2tog and so on). It is easy to work both by beginners and advanced knitters. The pattern contains 10 pages. 4 of them are a detailed written pattern, the rest contains charts and a diagram.

Still need something special for Christmas?

This wonderful shawl can be worked in many fiber qualities. The pictured sample is knit in cotton, but it looks equally nice in sock yarn or other warmer qualities. The chosen yarn should not be thicker than 8ply (DK).

Needed materials:

  • Yarn approx. 600 meters 656 yds in fingering weight (I used 50 grams Drops Safran and 150 grams Rowan Siena 4ply)
  • Circular knitting needle size matching the yarn used (I recommend an interchangeable system)
  • At least one stitch marker (from Row 70 onwards, slip marker in every row)
  • Sewing needle
  • Kitchen scales to weigh the yarn before the final section
The shawl starts with a cast-on of 3 stitches at the bottom tip and is worked bottom-up to the neck edge. The final border is worked sideways by using short rows. This is explained in detail throughout the pattern.
Finished size after blocking approx. 160 x 80 cm

The pattern runs 9 pages, it contains a written pattern and charts. It was originally written in german and the translation in english was proof-read by a native speaker. Skill level easy to intermediate (for ambitious beginner).
